Balloon Ride Information

"Hot Air Balloon Rides" (Also see "Tethered Rides" )
This is the information needed if you are interested in riding in a hot air balloon during the Balloons & Tunes Hot Air Balloon Festival. You will have the exciting opportunity to fly in a hot air balloon, launching with many other balloons in a beautiful and inspiring flight experience. A limited number of hot air balloon flights will be available to passengers by reservation. The rest will be made available on a first come, first served basis at the Balloons & Tunes Hot Air Balloon Festival. 

We will be offering hot air balloon flight opportunities on the following days of the festival:

* Weather controls everything that balloon pilots and crew are able to do. It is always our goal to provide a safe and enjoyable hot air balloon ride experience, but there can be unforeseen conditions which can even cause a flight to be cancelled just before launch. Please note, it may seem to be a beautiful day to most people, but not be considered fly-able by the pilot or the event officials.

* Hot air balloon rides are per person, regardless of age, at this event. For safety reasons, many pilots prefer not to fly children. If a pilot is OK with a child on their flight, the child must be able to see over the edge of the basket on their own. Please ask about other safety concerns.

* You will be asked a number questions at the time of your reservation. Some of the questions will include the number, weight, age, and health of each person. This is because there is a limit to the total weight each balloon can carry. There is also a limit to how many persons that every size balloon can carry. Most balloons in this area only carry two to four passengers. Finally, the number of passengers in each balloon will also be limited by the combined weight of all of the passengers and the temperature of the day.

* Additional questions will include age and health issues. These are mostly related to the safety of passengers during the landing process of a hot air balloon. Because balloons do not always "land like an elevator", the age and health of all passengers must be considered before allowing anyone to participate in a hot air balloon ride.

* Each balloon flight passenger (not tethered ride passengers) should print, read & bring the following documents with them.

Reservations and final payments may be made by CASH, Master Card, Visa, Discover Card, or American Express. We will not accept checks for any balloon rides. Due to the nature of this type of event, we cannot guarantee the flight date, time, duration, or direction.

"Tethered Hot Air Balloon Rides"
Tethered hot air balloon rides take place when the balloon is tied to the ground from multiple points. This allows the passengers to take a short ride up to the top of the ropes and back down to the ground (usually 25'-50'). During most tethered rides the pilot can take passengers of almost any age range.

Tethered hot air balloon rides will be available on Friday and Saturday from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm (weather permitting). The cost of these rides is $5 per person (adult or child). Ticket sales (Cash Only!) for these rides will be available at Beulah Park at the "Balloon Ride Tent" at the entrance to the launch field starting at approximately 5:45pm on the day of the event. No reservations will be taken for tethered balloon rides. All tethered hot air balloon rides are limited by space availability, daylight, and appropriate weather conditions.
